(CRM) Create a Deal

Updated this week

Summary

This tutorial shows you how to create a new Deal (also called a Lead) in BuilderPal’s Client Dashboard so you can track sales opportunities, build estimates, send proposals, and move deals through your pipeline.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Team Office — From the left sidebar, click Team Office to open your team and CRM tools.

  2. Open Client Dashboard and start a new Deal — Under the CRM section, click Client Dashboard, then click the + New button in the top right corner.

  3. Select or add a contact — In the New Lead window, choose the Existing Contact tab and search/select a contact (or switch to New Contact to add a brand-new client).

  4. Fill in deal details and create — Enter the Deal Name, Project Type, Project Address, Estimated Value, Notes/Description, Lead Source, and Priority, then click CREATE.

Confirmation

You’ll know it worked when the green banner “Lead created successfully.” appears internally. On the client’s end, they will receive an email invitation to log into their secure BuilderPal Client Portal. Once inside, they can view the new deal (shown under the New stage with “No proposals yet”), review project details, access any attached documents, and communicate directly with your team.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between a Deal and a Project?
A Deal is a potential sales opportunity. When marked as “Won”, it automatically converts into a full Project with scheduling, time tracking, and job-costing tools.

Q: Can I create a completely new client while making a deal?
Yes — switch to the New Contact tab in the New Lead window to add a brand-new client on the spot.

Q: Where do new Deals appear after creation?
They appear on the Client Dashboard pipeline and are organized by stage (New, Contacted, Proposal Sent, Negotiating, Won, or Lost).

Q: Who can create new Deals?
Only users with Admin (GC), Admin (SUB), Team Business Manager, or Team Project Manager roles.

Q: Is the Client Dashboard / CRM available on the Free plan?
Yes — basic deal creation, pipeline tracking, and the Client Portal are included in BuilderPal Free.
